CLIMBERS at A-LIGN take many different paths throughout their journey. Going the extra mile and demonstrating A-LIGN’s core values for our clients and fellow CLIMBERS is celebrated through the annual value awards at CLIMB, A-LIGN’s annual employee team-building event. This year, Sean is the winner of the “Be All In” award. We spoke with Sean about his role, his recent promotion and what it was like to be recognized by his peers for his commitment to our core values.
Where are you from? How did you get involved in cybersecurity?
I’ve lived in Tampa all my life. Before I started at A-LIGN as the Systems Administrator, I graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in MIS. Just recently I was promoted to take on a role in Salesforce Administration where I assist with improving business processes and of improving how our company operates.
How long have you been at A-LIGN? What has changed during your tenure?
I’ve been with A-LIGN for just over two years, and during that time a lot has changed. The company has more than doubled in size and we recently joined forces with an investment firm. When I first started the executive team was small, but now we have an entire Board of Directors and executive team to lead A-LIGN on the path to success. This has allowed me to advance my career by being placed in a more focused position, and I look forward to continuing to grow within our company.
What attracted you to A-LIGN?
The opportunity for growth. When I first started at A-LIGN, I saw an opportunity to expand my skills and move up within the company. As A-LIGN continues to grow rapidly, new opportunities become available. New positions, jobs, and services are constantly being added and it’s exciting to experience that growth
What is it like to win A-LIGN’s annual “Be All In” value award at CLIMB?
I’m extremely grateful my colleagues nominated me for such an amazing award. Knowing I was chosen alongside all the other amazing nominees that also embody the beliefs of “being all in” is an extremely rewarding feeling that I do not take for granted. I will always do my best to provide the same level of quality and service and I hope I can continue to “Be All In” throughout my entire career at A-LIGN.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part about my job is having the opportunity to help others when they need assistance. Unpredictable problems happen all the time and being able to swiftly resolve critical issues are important to our business, our clients and fellow CLIMBERS. Knowing that I am someone they can rely on in stressful situations is something I take pride in.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I’ve played golf for most of my life. During high school, my team made it to the state championship twice. We didn’t win either tournament, unfortunately, but I was decent back in the day.
What do you do for fun outside of A-LIGN?
I love being outdoors, specifically cycling.
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned at A-LIGN?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned while working at A-LIGN is the power someone’s actions have over another’s. Whenever I interact with other CLIMBERS, I try to make the other person feel valued and appreciated during our conversation. I believe building relationships and being kind to others brings out the best in people. It’s the little things that matter most.
What’s the best advice you could give someone trying to enter the industry?
Networking is everything. I was lucky enough to be put in a position where I interact with everyone at A-LIGN. Creating those relationships and being able to put your name out there makes a big difference anywhere you go. This is especially important in information technology as there is a high barrier to entry. If you can stand out from everyone as much as possible, I guarantee you’ll get your foot in the door.
