The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) recently announced Alex Welsh, Senior Consultant at A-LIGN, was chosen to participate in the FICPA 2019 Emerging Leader program. The annual program is designed to strengthen the leadership skills of FICPA’s CPA members, develop the future influencers of the profession and build a network of talented and motivated CPAs.
“It’s an honor to be part of the Emerging Leaders program! Participating in the program allows me to stay up-to-date with the latest accounting trends and increase awareness of A-LIGN,” said Alex. Participants in the Emerging Leaders program build relationships across the state, engage with thought leaders in the profession and are encouraged to become leaders within their company.
The group kicked off their program on Aug. 2 in Orlando, FL with a communication skills workshop and how they can strengthen the CPA profession in Florida. When asked what she plans to accomplish while participating in the program, Alex said she’s most excited to meet and learn from other CPAs.
“The exposure to new information and the accounting profession will help me grow as an auditor,” replied Alex. “My goal is to learn from other participants and program opportunities. As a CPA professional who doesn’t practice what’s considered traditional financial or tax accounting, it’s interesting to learn about that part of the profession and how IT auditing is incorporated.”
The Emerging Leaders program creates an environment in which young CPAs can engage in a statewide conversation about state and national issues impacting the profession, establish professional relationships and be inspired to take the next step forward as leaders.
